This week heralds the beginning of yet another wonderful festival in Alberta’s capital. The Edmonton International Film Festival will be filling the city with movie magic from September 29th to October 8th. The festival has been around since 1986, but it’s current incarnation and style developed in 2003. Films are open to everyone, regardless of location, genre and language, all are welcome to submit. The films are even eligible for the Academy Awards and that is just really cool. It’s actually one of only four film festivals that qualify for the Academy Awards in all of Canada.

Tickets prices are comparable to general movie prices at $15 per film, or there are passes available as well for $149. The festival shows 55 full length films and over 100 short films, all of which will have their initial premieres right here in Edmonton.

You can view the film schedule here: http://www.edmontonfilmfest.com/schedule/

The variety and depth of the films lined up is astonishing and I’m honestly surprised that I’d never actually heard about this festival before. I recommend having a look at the listing as there’s certain to be at least one film in the schedule that you’re bound to enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by and happy viewing!
