Hey guys!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2016 was a rollercoaster of a year. Professionally it was pretty great with the publication of my first novel, children’s book and novella. Personally, I lost my grandpa this year so that pretty much sucked. It was an unusual year, but overall it was pretty productive and I’m rolling into 2017 at full speed, ready to take on this new year.

The blog hiatus is officially over and my next novel is finally done! It’s been sent off for copy-editing now and I’m so excited for it to be out. This next novel is Olympian Confessions: Hera. In this new novel we get a fresh look at the the much-maligned Queen of Olympus. It’s set both before and alongside my first novel, Olympian Confessions: Hades and Persephone and brings a lot more backstory and new perspective to the story of the Olympians. What I like about this version is that Hera is basically portrayed as a jealous b*tch in the original mythology and it never sat well with me. Most of the events of the mythology still occur, but with different triggers, alternate views and there’s a deeper explanation for what goes on.

Also very shortly my next children’s book will be available. It is titled Journey in the Light, which is a kid-friendly story driven explanation of chakras accompanied by gorgeous illustrations.

I haven’t decided yet what the next novel will be. I have a few on the go, but all I can say at this point is that it will not be another Olympian Confessions book right now.

What to expect in 2017 from me:

The blog is going to have a weekly special called World Changing Women. All of 2017 will exclusively cover diverse women and their impacts on the world. 2018 will be open to all, but 2017 will be a year of diversity for me. I know diversity is a hot topic in the literary world right now and I’m a little low on diverse reading, but I’m planning to rectify that this year. I’m not going to limit my reading exclusively to diverse authors, but I am going to make a conscious effort to include more of them on my list.  I tested out doing 5 blog posts a week this year and I decided for 2017 I’m going to trim it down a bit and put more focus into my other writing. I will keep up with a few blog series – Travel Tuesdays, World Changing Women – book reviews, etc. but you’ll see a little less of me on here than the last few months.

I went back and checked out my resolution from last year, which was to have my next manuscript completed. I’m happy to say that I was successful there, with a few days to spare! This next year my resolution will be a little bit more ambitious. A year into fully pursuing my dream I’ve discovered I can get a lot more done than I originally thought and I love being able to work consistently on my writing. My New Year’s Resolution is to work on my writing in some fashion (writing, outlining, researching) every single day, with the exception of days where things are beyond my control.  With this level of diligence I hope to continue with one novel a year, novellas and children’s books. I am so fortunate to have a husband that supports my writing and to have a partnership with some very talented illustrators, editors and all the others helping bring my books to life.

I hope 2017 is a great year for people. The work is just beginning and we can do this together.

Thanks for stopping by!
